How Can You Help?

The Norwegian Elkhound Association of America has been actively concerned with the health and well being of the Norwegian Elkhound since the organization was founded. By establishing the Canine Health and Research Committee, the NEAA Research Fund, and, most recently, the NEAA Donor Advised Fund, the organization continues its long-term commitment to a healthy future for the Norwegian Elkhound. We are all responsible for giving something back to our breed in thanks for the special dogs that have given us their hearts and souls to make our daily lives happier. Here are ways that you can help.
The NEAA Donor Advised Fund — A Savings Account for Research What is a Donor Advised Fund? The NEAA Donor Advised Fund is best described as a savings account for research. The DAF program, administered by the AKC Canine Health Foundation (CHF), is designed to provide the NEAA with expert assistance in identifying and overseeing promising research that the NEAA may consider funding. The AKC/CHF is an IRS 501 (c)(3) charitable organization and administers donor advised funds for breed clubs and individuals across the country. Donations made to these funds are tax deductible to the extent provided by law.

The NEAA Research Fund
This fund is held within the Norwegian Elkhound Association of America’s treasury. Money in this fund is dispersed by the NEAA Board for research projects and approved committee work. Anyone may contribute to this fund. While not personally tax deductible, money donated to this fund helps the NEAA CH&R sustain important work such as fund raising projects, education, and communication.
Fund Raising Projects
The CH&R has held many fund raising projects to benefit both the NEAA Research Fund and the AKC/CHF Donor Advised Fund. Among them are the Quilt Raffle, a puppy picture calendar, and a Christmas lawn decoration featuring Santa’s sleigh pulled by a team of elkhounds. In addition to committee projects, at each NEAA National Specialty an auction is held. A portion of the proceeds benefits the NEAA Research Fund.
By participating in these fund raising efforts, you help the NEAA CH&R pursue its goal of long-term health for the Norwegian Elkhound.
